Architects Without Borders - Oregon Outreach for Volunteers

AWB-Oregon is issuing an "Open Call" for volunteers. Opportunities currently available run the gamut from administrative support to grant writing to disaster response. We are an all-volunteer organization, so even if you don't possess a special skill or relevant technical expertise, chances are we can use your help. The information you provide in the accompanying form will help us determine how we can most appropriately benefit from your potential involvement. We'll include this information in our general database, which we use to assess the reservoir of talent available to us. Please be as accurate & thorough as possible with the information you provide. We understand that some folks simply want to stuff envelopes, help fund-raise, or otherwise participate locally, while others may wish to operate in a remote field office or be deployed to disaster zones. If you're willing to help, we'll try our darnedest to figure out a way to utilize your generous offer of assistance.

For those of you primarily focused on in-theater disaster response, we ask that you take a moment to reflect upon the sacrifices involved & the training required to successfully engage in this type of work. Before completing the form, please carefully consider your ability to travel & take time off from work, the hardships associated with prolonged separation from family & friends, the potential loss of income during your absence, & the challenging circumstances to be encountered while acting as a volunteer in a disaster-stricken area. Although tremendously rewarding, disaster response work is difficult, & certainly not for everyone. Truth is, volunteers operating in background roles or acting in support capacities are every bit as important & vital as those on the front lines.

While this call for volunteers has been initiated as part of AWB's response to the aftermath of the Gulf Coast hurricanes & the Asian tsunami, please understand that you may not be contacted to participate in this specific effort. The ultimate goal of this database is to facilitate the identification & placement of willing volunteers, both during times of crisis & of calm. Connecting volunteers that possess demonstrated expertise or needed talents with people & places that can immediately benefit from the mobilization & deployment of these unique skills is a primary focus of our mission. AWB-Oregon exists to help communities in need, & by preparing in advance to respond to future challenges (whether they be catastrophic disasters or ongoing inadequacies), we heighten the ability of all members to be effective volunteers & agents for positive change.

To submit your registration, fill out the relevant fields in the form and click the "Submit" button at the bottom. The information you provide will be used only as indicated.

Thanks for your willingness to join AWB's Volunteer Team !
