Indonesian Earthquake

In May a powerful earthquake shattered the pre-dawn quiet on the Indonesian land of Java, leaving destruction and devastation in it's wake. THe death toll over 5,100, more than 6,500 people are seriously injured, and over 100,000 are now homelss.

Humanitarian aid agencies around the globe are mobilized to help those affected by this tragedy. AWB remains commited to assisting communities wherever and whenever our help is needed. Your help is needed to ensure that vital reflief reaches the affected villages.

Architects Without Borders - Aid in our rebuilding efforts through the AIA.

AIA/Portland participated in a tour of the ReBuilding Center (3625 N Mississippi Ave) on Wednesday, September 21, at 5pm.. A party followed at the Mississippi Studios (3939 N Mississippi Ave). In recognition of the recent destruction along the Gulf Coast, AIA/Portland donated all proceeds from this event to Architects Without Borders - Oregon to aid us in our rebuilding efforts.

Architects Without Borders - Oregon presented our work at the Architecture Week Gala Celebration on Friday, October 28, 2005.

Architects Without Borders-Oregon featured charity at new condo tower launch.

Realty Trust, in association with Gerding/Edlen Development and Williams & Dame Development, presented“South Waterfront Visionaries,” July 28, 2005, at the Discovery Center, 0680 SW Bancroft, Portland, 97239. This event, was the public launch of the new South Macadam Waterfront project, the John Ross Residential Tower. The developers graciously invited Architects Without Borders – Oregon to participate as the evening’s featured charity.

Lead architect Robert Thompson gave the keynote address, sharing his unique vision & discussing his approach to design. Thompson, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, believes that “all projects provide the opportunity to create innovative solutions….which heighten the public’s awareness of the special & artistic dynamics of the built environment.”
