If
you share our passion for helping others, then don't be shy about
discussing issues you care about with those around you.
You can help
AWB raise awareness & spread the word by employing the age-old
"grapevine" technique: tell your friends & neighbors. When
you share your thoughts on the Hurricane Katrina disaster with
family members, co-workers, classmates, & colleagues, you
contribute to an ongoing & meaningful dialogue that helps
to engage & inform us all. All too often in the aftermath
of catastrophes, the devastating & negative impact of nature's
fury on the human element is initially highlighted, & then
just as quickly forgotten or overlooked as the cameras & the
media concentrate instead on provocative images of flattened buildings,
flooded neighborhoods, & collapsed bridges. AWB-Oregon's disaster
relief & response efforts always strive to focus on the most
important element of our work: providing a tangible, positive
benefit to those adversely impacted by the crisis. Our approach
to humanitarian aid & disaster relief incorporates a unique
cultural sensitivity, a heightened awareness of the implications
of our actions, and a tenacious adherence to uncompromising standards
of compassion & altruism.
